How to Apply for RPSC RAS 2026 Notification (Step-by-Step)
The entire process is online. Here’s exactly what you need to do:
Step 1: Create Your SSO ID (If You Don’t Have One)
Visit the SSO Portal at sso.rajasthan.gov.in. Register using your Aadhaar card, Jan Aadhaar card, or any other valid government ID. If you already have an SSO ID, simply log in.
Step 2: Complete One Time Registration (OTR)
Inside the SSO portal, go to the Recruitment Portal and complete your One Time Registration (OTR). This is a one-time profile that will be used for all RPSC recruitments. Fill in your personal details — name, father’s name, date of birth, gender — exactly as they appear on your Aadhaar/Jan Aadhaar. Any mismatch will cause problems later and cannot be corrected without documentation.
Step 3: Capture Your Live Photo
During the OTR process, you’ll need to capture a live photograph using your device camera. This is mandatory. Make sure the photo is clear and taken in a well-lit space. The same photo will appear on your admit card and be verified at the exam center.
Step 4: Fill the Online Application Form
Go to rpsc.rajasthan.gov.in → Click “Apply Online” for RAS 2026 → Log in through SSO → Fill in your category, educational qualifications, service experience (if applicable), and scribe preference (for PH candidates).
Step 5: Upload Thumb Impression
Upload a scanned copy of your left-hand thumb impression. This is a new requirement and is mandatory. It will be used for identity verification at the exam hall.
Step 6: Pay the Application Fee
Pay your fee online through the RPSC portal. After successful payment, your Application Number is generated. This confirms your application is submitted. If you don’t see an Application Number, your form has NOT been submitted — preview it and submit again.
Step 7: Print the Confirmation Page
Take a printout of the submitted application form and keep it safely. RPSC does not send individual confirmation emails/letters. Everything is communicated through the official website.
Important Things to Remember:
- Don’t apply in the wrong category — corrections are very limited
- After submission, changes within 10 days of the last date are allowed with a ₹500/- correction fee
- Offline applications or applications through any other route are NOT accepted
Exam Pattern & Selection Process (RPSC RAS 2026 Notification)
The RAS exam happens in three stages:
Stage 1: Preliminary Examination (Screening)
| Subject | Max Marks | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| General Knowledge & General Science | 200 | 3 Hours |
This is an objective-type (MCQ) paper with OMR answer sheets. Negative marking applies — 1/3 mark is deducted for each wrong answer. Prelims marks are not counted in the final merit list. They are only used to shortlist candidates. Approximately 15 times the number of vacancies will be called for the Main Exam.
Stage 2: Main Examination (Descriptive)
| Paper | Subject | Max Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Paper I | General Studies – I | 200 |
| Paper II | General Studies – II | 200 |
| Paper III | General Studies – III | 200 |
| Paper IV | General Hindi & General English | 200 |
To qualify for the Viva Voce round, you must score at least 10% in each paper and 15% in aggregate. SC/ST candidates get a 5% relaxation in these minimum marks.
Stage 3: Personality Test / Viva Voce (100 Marks)
The final interview assesses your character, communication, knowledge of Rajasthani culture, and suitability for administrative roles. Candidates holding an NCC ‘C’ Certificate get preference for the Rajasthan Police Service.
Final merit = Main Exam marks + Viva Voce marks
The syllabus for Prelims and Mains was released via Press Note on 09.01.2026 — you can find it on the official RPSC website.
