Eligibility Criteria – CTET 2026
Paper I – Primary Level (Class I to V)
Candidates must meet any ONE of the following qualifications:
- Senior Secondary (10+2) with minimum 50% marks + passed/appearing in final year of 2-year D.El.Ed.
- Senior Secondary (10+2) with minimum 45% marks + D.El.Ed. (as per NCTE Regulations 2002)
- Senior Secondary (10+2) with minimum 50% marks + final year of 4-year B.El.Ed.
- Senior Secondary (10+2) with minimum 50% marks + final year of 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)
- Graduation with minimum 50% marks + B.Ed. degree (must complete 6-month Bridge Course in Primary Teacher Education within 2 years of appointment)
- SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates: 5% relaxation in qualifying marks
Paper II – Elementary Level (Class VI to VIII)
Candidates must meet any ONE of the following qualifications:
- Graduation + passed/appearing in final year of 2-year D.El.Ed.
- Graduation with minimum 50% marks + passed/appearing in final year of B.Ed.
- Graduation with minimum 45% marks + 1-year B.Ed. (as per NCTE Regulations)
- Senior Secondary with minimum 50% marks + final year of 4-year B.A./B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed
- Graduation with minimum 50% marks + 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education)
- SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates: 5% relaxation in qualifying marks
Note: Candidates who are appearing in their final year of qualifying exam are also eligible to apply. There is no upper age limit for CTET.

Key Points: All questions are MCQ (Multiple Choice). Each question carries 1 mark. There is NO negative marking. Duration of each paper is 2.5 hours (150 minutes). Minimum qualifying marks: 60% (90/150) for General; 55% (82/150) for SC/ST/OBC/PwD.
