How the OFSS Bihar Admission System Works 🧭
The Online Facilitation System for Students (OFSS) is a single, state-wide platform created by the Bihar School Examination Board to manage Intermediate (Class 11) admissions across all affiliated schools and colleges in Bihar. Instead of applying to each institution separately, a student fills one Common Application Form (CAF) and lists several colleges in order of preference. Seats are then allotted centrally on the basis of Class 10 marks, the preferences chosen, and the seats available in each college. Because the process is fully merit-based, there is no entrance test and no separate form for individual colleges.
Understanding the OFSS Merit Lists 📋
After the application window closes, BSEB prepares a merit list using each candidate’s matriculation (Class 10) marks. Admissions are then released in stages through the First, Second, and Third Merit Lists. When a student is allotted a college in an earlier list and confirms the seat, that seat is locked; remaining and newly vacated seats are offered in the next list. A candidate who is not selected in the first list is automatically considered in the later lists, so there is no need to apply again. Where the option is available, students can also choose a “slide-up” (upgrade) to be considered for a higher-preference college in subsequent rounds.
Documents Required for OFSS Admission 📄
Applicants should keep the following ready while filling the form and, later, at the time of college reporting: the Class 10 (Matriculation) marksheet and pass certificate, a recent passport-size photograph, a valid mobile number and email ID, and a category or caste certificate where applicable. The exact set of documents needed at admission is confirmed by the college to which a seat is allotted.
What Happens After the Last Date ⏭️
For the 2026–28 session, the application window was open from 08 April to 18 April 2026 and has now closed. Applicants should monitor the official portal, ofssbihar.net, for the publication of the merit lists, download the allotment or intimation letter once it is released, and report to the allotted college within the stated reporting period with the required documents. Missing the reporting deadline can lead to cancellation of the allotted seat, after which the candidate must wait for the next list.
