What is HPSC HCS Examination?

The Haryana Civil Services (HCS) Examination is one of the most prestigious state-level competitive exams in India, conducted by the Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC). It is the gateway to Group A and Group B posts in the Haryana government, including positions such as Deputy Superintendent of Police, Tehsildar, Block Development and Panchayat Officer, and several other administrative roles. The examination is conducted in three stages: Preliminary, Mains, and Interview.

Documents Required at the Exam Centre

Candidates appearing for the HPSC HCS Preliminary Examination must carry the following documents to the exam centre without fail:

  • Printed copy of the HPSC HCS Admit Card 2026 (black and white print is acceptable)
  • One valid government-issued photo ID proof such as Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, PAN Card, Driving Licence, or Passport
  • Two recent passport-size photographs (same as submitted in the application form)

Candidates who fail to carry the admit card along with valid photo ID will not be permitted to enter the examination hall under any circumstances. No exceptions are made on exam day.

Important Instructions for Exam Day

  • Report to the exam centre at least 60 minutes before the scheduled exam time. Late entry is not permitted after the gate closure time mentioned on the admit card.
  • Electronic devices including mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth earphones, and calculators are strictly prohibited inside the examination hall.
  • Candidates must follow the seating arrangement displayed at the exam centre and sit only at the seat allotted to them.
  • Read all instructions printed on the admit card carefully before appearing for the examination.
  • Any form of unfair means will result in immediate disqualification and may lead to a ban from future HPSC examinations.

About HPSC HCS Selection Process

The HCS selection process consists of three stages. The Preliminary Examination is an objective-type screening test consisting of two papers: General Studies (100 marks) and CSAT (100 marks, qualifying in nature). Candidates who clear the Preliminary stage appear for the Mains Examination, which is a descriptive test covering six papers. The final stage is the Personality Test or Interview carrying 75 marks. The final merit list is prepared by adding the Mains and Interview scores.

How to Check Exam Centre Details

Your exam centre details including the name of the centre, city, and full address are printed directly on your admit card. HPSC does not separately communicate exam centre information via email or SMS. It is your responsibility to locate your exam centre in advance and plan your travel accordingly. We recommend visiting the exam centre a day before the exam to avoid any last-minute confusion.
