Physical Test Preparation Tips for CRPF 2026

  • Start running 90 days before the exam: Build from 2km to 5km gradually over 12 weeks. Start slow, increase pace week by week.
  • Target time 2 minutes less than the limit: If your trade requires 5km in 24 minutes, train to do it in 22 minutes. This gives a buffer on exam day when nerves and unfamiliar ground affect performance.
  • For chest expansion (males): Practise deep breathing exercises and swimming. Chest expansion of 5cm requires consistent training — cannot be achieved in days. Start at least 3 months before the test.
  • Weight management: CRPF checks weight against height norms. Overweight or severely underweight candidates can be disqualified. Aim for a BMI of 18.5–24.9.
  • Practise on a ground: Train on a proper ground or track rather than roads. The PET is held on a marked ground — pacing is different from road running.
  • Do not over-train the week before: Rest 3–4 days before the test. Over-training causes fatigue and injury.

CRPF Constable Physical Test 2026 — Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. What is the running distance for CRPF Constable PET 2026?

See also  AFCAT Marital Status Rules – What Happens If You Marry During Training?

The running distance depends on the trade. For most male Tradesmen (Driver, Carpenter, Electrician, Motor Mechanic, etc.), the PET requires running 5 km in 24 minutes. For female candidates, the distance is 1.6 km with a time of 8 minutes 30 seconds (general trades) or 12 minutes (light trades).

Q2. What is the minimum height for CRPF Constable 2026?

For General, OBC, and SC male candidates, the minimum height is 170 cm. For ST male candidates, the relaxation is to 162.5 cm. For NE states and Gorkha candidates, the minimum is 165 cm. For female candidates, the minimum height is 157 cm (General/OBC/SC), 150 cm (ST), and 155 cm (NE/Gorkha).

Q3. How many attempts are allowed in CRPF PET running?

Candidates get only one attempt in the CRPF PET running test. There is no second chance or re-test option. Failing the running test results in immediate disqualification from the entire selection process. Candidates must be physically prepared well in advance.

Q4. What is the chest requirement for CRPF Constable male candidates?

For General, OBC, and SC male candidates, the chest must be a minimum of 80 cm when unexpanded and 85 cm when fully expanded — a minimum expansion of 5 cm. For ST male candidates, the requirement is 76 cm unexpanded and 81 cm expanded. Chest measurement is not taken for female candidates.

No. Candidates applying for light duty trades such as Cook, Barber, Safai Karmachari, and Washerman are required to run only 1.6 km (males: within 10 minutes, females: within 12 minutes) — not the full 5 km. This is a significant difference from General Tradesmen and should be confirmed in the official CRPF notification for the specific trade applied for.
